Used RR Vogue Prices

I went through the whole P38A thing before deciding to buy the Jeep.

Don't get me wrong, the Jeep has been excellent and I'm a very happy Jeep and LR owner (they only fight now and then :D, but the Freelander wins as it lives in the garage whilst the Jeep sulks outside ). It has proven itself offroad and onroad - completely reliable and capable. It's boxy shape also makes a perfect family hack for renovating, I've gotten furniture, cement mixer, etc in it very easily. But I digress ...

However the Jeep was only ever going to be around for about 3 yrs - can't believe 1 yr is almost up already :o - as a fill in 4WD.

I've just been casually looking around again, and with our first kid almost here and planning for our second, the Jeep will get very small in about 18mths time.

Basically looking for a luxury yet somewhat capable vehicle. So far the list is Touareg, RR Sport, Grand Cherokee and M-class (RR sport outsider in the list).

I was just wondering why the jump from the P38A, appears to be a combo of the P38A's 'history' and as others have said, current model looks.

Sorry the RR Sport does not meet these requirements.

Luxury: YES

Very very capable: YES.

If you want something that's "not quite up to par" don't buy a Land ROver.

Yeah ... no worries Vlad :eek:

When I said "somewhat capable" I meant I'm not after a psuedo 4WD like an X5. I want something more capable than that; something I can take to LCMP and do a few tracks ... basically at least as good if not better than my modd'd Jeep.

The price jump is always for the "BMW" modified P38a. That is the 2000 and later model (XA). this model has Bosh electrics, and a few mods.

To easily see, when you look at the motor it has those eight arches over the motor instead of the "square box" for the distriibution of the air. Side air bags as well etc.

I have found mine fantasitc (except possibly traction control a couple of times when off road!!). I spent the extra dollars to get a post 2000 model, as these seem to have fewer (i hope) problems and some nice benifits.

Feels great and sequre on the road (confident to keep family safe) and appears to work really well off road as a standard factory made vehicle.

I have to agree here. In the club I know a bloke with a 2000 HSE and had it for 6 years without any massive reliability issues. Took it across the Simpson and on many club trips (although nothing I would consider challenging) and had an dodgy AFM sensor (not really sure what they have under them bloody things) in all that time.

He's also got a 2002 TD6 and had all sorts of issues. Calls it the 'computer on wheels' :D :D
