Nicest bike I ever had (and I've had too many to remember) was a BMW R65. It's one thing BMW does (or did) very well... 2 wheelers....
Touring? Wouldn't have anything else.....

Since LR dont make bikes we well let him off as long as he sells it and gets a trumpy.

I'd love to get a Triumph but as I'm doing 160 - 200Km a day on it, I wanted something that was shaft driven so I didn't have to change chains & sprockets every month or two. The other aspect of it is that I'm on the GS for an hour and get off as 'fresh as a daisy'.... It was one of the only bikes I found to give me that comfort.
Next.. I just need to find a cheepish set of spoked wheels to stick some mud tyres on. Thing is, they're not cheap... $2k - $2.5k!!![]()

Hi folks, Apologies, WAY, WAY WAY off topic, but I spent 15 fabulous years farting around on motorbikes in outback Australia.
I completely stuffed 3 BMW-s - a 75/5, an R80 RT and a R80GS Paris-Dakar.
Then I bought a Moto Guzzi Le Mans! Believe it or not MUCH more comfortable, no gear change clunk, vastly better in bulldust (never once spat me off) and best of all, it didn't break like the Beemers.
It used less fuel, and if I paniced and used the clutch in a river crossing, I didn't lose clutch as one does on a BMWoolly-woofter!
Only thing....with the sporty suspension and padless seat I rooted my back on corrugations, no more scoots the quack said, next best thing, Land Rovers! Dead right, same spirit of adventure as a bike.
'Scuse the nostalgic moment,
Top of the season to all,
Paul
