met one defender owner when down at eurong who has had a bit of a hard time of it... he paid 53k for his new fender 3 years ago and so far the warranty work has totalled 57k ( dam sure the figures were that way round but .....)
to say he was not a happy landy owner would be a mild understatement....
Wazza if you are a member of a 4wd club you can go to Fraser Island for the annual clean up which lasts half a day.
This is held over the Australia day long weekend.
Barge fares are half price and camping fees are waived.
Our club has over 30 vechiles going
I will be heading off on Thursday for 5 days.

Yeah that was me
Where were you camped? I waved at all the defenders and landies i saw, (including the hire vehicles that dont seem to get the waving to other defenders thing, maybe that should be in their hire agreement)
Met up with the guys that had the 2 ex army defenders that were up there fishing as well. looked like nice vehicles. got a pic of theirs and mine up near waddy.
Wasnt the best weather but what can you do,
Not a member as yet but going to go along to the gold coast landrover club tomorrow night.Quote:

I am very interested in helping clean up so we can all enjoy the island more so any info you have would be great.
Welcome back Inc can;t wait for a full report. Something up to my standards I hope ! (even if the weather wasn't!).
$57K in warranty - it must be all new bits by now ! Ouch ! (but at least it WAS under warranty)

I got back from Fraser last Saturday. Stayed in a house at Waddy so the couple of days of rain didn't really bother us, mmm hot showers, deck with BBQ looking towards the cape, but as mentioned it was kinda cold - I think I was the only one who actually took trackies and a jumper. No fish, demolished plenty of jellyfish though, Indian head was fairly soft on the way up but the rain fixed that, same with Nykarla (sp). Went to Wathumba and to the Light House. Saw some dolphins, turtles and dingoes although thought we'd see more dingoes.
It was fairly quiet until the rain started to clear - the Friday and Saturday were getting very busy, on the way back we stopped at Eli creek for a swim/float with the other 100 or so cars:eek: then onto to Lake Mackenzie for a swim before the return trip to Brisbane
So who was in the bright blue disco normally travelling with a white disco - we waved at most landie owners but with little response from many.
