made it back home after the 6 day trip to fraser island. eventful trip for some, luckily not me... i am sure futher details will follow in a week or so from the man himself...
last year i barely survived the heat at bjelke-peterson dam, this year i nearly froze to death just south of indian head :P or so it seemed at the time :P:P
talk about an about face in the weather at this time of year!
for those that are interested, i got the camper trailer over indian head with the help of the tractors ($20 donation well worth it i have to say) and made it thru waddy and champagne with a little help, only to have to turn back when another vehicle wilted in the face of the torment of powerdery sand and a very heavy trailer. (the rain was a day late!)
we retreated to burad camping area after a couple of hot weary hours, where we pitched camp for the rest of the week.
did a day run to the cape, was a good run, with ngala rocks providing some entertainment for some.
no fish, little sun, and cold as a witches left breast at times, but i loved every minute of it........
sight of the trip?
a holden adventurer doing 50k up the powdery run up and over indian head, he flew past them all, landies, troopies, nissans and more...at times 3 to 4 feet in the air. the front spoiler didnt survive, but he provided the hordes of the bogged with a few moments of entertainment....
nice place fraser... always something different to keep you amused or bemused.. will load some pics when i get a chance...
i have to say the nissan navara st-r twin cabs with the 3 litre diesel engine are very capable vehicles in the right hands... i was very impressed with what i saw ....

i just got back from 5 days on fraser.
Wasnt exactly hot was it.
We camped near cathedral and spent the 5 days driving nearly every part of the island we could.
I was the one in the green soft top defender waving at all the other defender drivers on the island.
Cant wait to go back. Trying to work out if i could fit a few days in around australia day.
Only time i got stuck was coming of teewah on the way home. ( i was towing a camper trailer)
Happy New year INC, and good to see you got some quality relaxation time in on the break.
I got stuck there too towing my camperOriginally Posted by Wazza
I watched for a while on the 31st and no one towing trailers made it through without digging (1st cutting) so don't feel bad. I managed to get myself out though and then used the 2nd cutting.
yeah was pretty chopped up yesterday afternoon.
i had to get out and let a little more air out of the tires (down to 15) reversed a tad then forward back forward back etc till it grabbed and drove out.
I certainly wasnt it the mood to start digging
and the cops were just on the bend inside the beach watching and checking for illegal mods on vehicles on the beach. (im all good)
