That wasn't high tide. The tide had been falling for a few hours at that stage. A 4WD tour truck/bus had already been through, but I was the first "normal" 4WD through. A Hilux twin cab came through after me, he said he got water into his heater box!
As the tide fell more people were game to come through. At full low tide the water was only about 2 or 3 inches deep because it spreads across the lower part of the beach.
