Not one to defend the British empire, but because WW2 interests me, I googled (too hard to look at the books I have) just what actually happened.
I could'nt figure how Churchill would dare (bottle of scotch a day aside) say as much.

I think I have seen the first positive American move shown in the media so far. Apparently the USA is giving away 100 or so Hummers some new some old to the new Iraq security / police service. 100 Hummers lined up in rows looks pretty good.
I agree, it is a lot better publicity than they've been getting to date. I just hope they're also teaching them repairs. The Prisons in Queensland sold off their Hummers a couple of years back. Only one was running, and it only worked in reverse.Quote:

The drivers in this video are amazingly curteous and better behaved than many in some of our capital cities - even after a bump - no road rage.
These poor soldiers - poorly trained, in crap equipment - in a terrifying situation - amazing they just don't drive straight over anything.
The can't stop 'cause if they did the Hummer(s) may not get going again.
