Have owned 2 or 3 110's. build quality is ****E in terms of door gaps, differences from left side to right side, etc. The official chassis measurments even specify a range of distances from one point to the next instead of exact distances. If your looking for high standard build quality and car like road manners, then a 110 is not your car.
However, you probably wont find a heavier chassis to take punishment or better on/off road performance overall as a result of constant 4wd and coil springs. The later was introduced by landrover in 1973 (range rover) and 1983 (110) wasn't done by other manufacturers until about 20 years later. Those three features make the product I think.

We bought one new in 05. 4 weeks later it went north through the simpson off -track
I'll admit it's taken a while to fully get used to.. but we love it now and are looking forward to lots more family adventures in it.
They aren't difficult to steer at any time... in fact the handling amazes me. They ROCK
To quality.. it has been heaps better than some cars I have owned. It's hand built though so they are what they are.
These sorts of threads are always interesting!
We all know the problems that you can have with build quality, but everyone loves their Land Rovers. They have lots and lots of character and people seem to be prepared to put up with a few things not being 100% for the overall experience.
They stand out from the general bland cars that 95% of the world drives.
I regularly drive a whole range of vehicles for work, play, travel etc including a Rangie, Disco, Volvo, BMW, Honda, Porsche (occasionally!), Subaru WRX... and still the Defender makes me smile whenever I drive it. Probably my favourite vehicle of all time.
