    Landy lovers everywhere

Yesterday A bobcat driver on his own caught his wedding ring in the tailgate of his semi as he jumped down, partial amputation occurred, He is a fainter, my labourer alerted me to the unconscious driver and I rendered Immediate first aid using a bandage and 2 Ice cold coke cans from the Engel as splints, in the Fender an off to hospital..straight into emergency (ambulance only) and carried his woosy body drifting in an out into the triage, straight in ..gets outside and thought I'm in trouble 2 x security guards and 2 x Paramedics..
No trouble , Landy Lovers, one paramedic has a standard Defender 1996 and the other one was insistent I sell mine to him as he is embarking on a round OZ trip in a thirsty 80ser..well it looked like an army open day with all doors open and the four of them crawling all over my fender..good PR for the marque..
after 30mins chit chat back to work...

Quite a few years ago, one of the farmers near here climbed up to the top of a field bin to see how full it was, and jumped back down - leaving his wedding ring and ring finger hooked on the top edge of the mesh.

I have two friends who had similar accidents. One was on trestles and plank when he slipped and fell, hooking the wedding ring on a nail head on the way down, and the other was unloading a wooden crate from the back of a truck and also hooked the wedding ring on a nail head as he slid the crate over the edge of the tray and lost his grip, and the crate fell taking finger with it.

well on any resource construction site in WA your not allowed to wear rings on fingers on the job site for the very reason of lost fingers

its amazing how many get caught and fingers ripped out

Just so happens I got an e-mail today with photos of a guys finger who had been wearing a ring - won't put on here as it is a bit graphic -just stripped the flesh to the bone - you can use your imagination.

In the Navy we had OH&S posters showing similar pictures - very effective. However when the same posters were posted in Defence offices with public servants they all complained about them being too offensive and they were banned from the workplace - go figure.

One of the guys at work left the 2way on in his truck over a long weekend resulting in a flat battery.
He managed to get his wedding ring to connect between the posative jumperlead and the chassis.24V and over 1000amp cold cranking power!!!! OUCH!!!! the wedding ring melted,he has a permanent scar around his finger. The shire wouldnt replace the ring stating he shouldnt have been wearing jewelery to work.

I used to remove mine in the bottle shop as I caught it on a loose panel in one of the fridges. Shop next door took me to hospital as I couldn't stop the bleeding and it looked like a stabbing in the shop.
When I'm working on the rig wife will come out and take the ring from me if I have forgotten to remove it.
