Doing something illegal is not being too smart, either, Regards Frank.

Serves him right, I would say more but I'm running late for the Mafia meeting at the local sly grog/betting shop.

The link doesn't work for me.

Re cops on these fora, Scott aka "Nissan on Patrol" on the A4WDM forum is a policeman from the NSW Southern Highlands. He freely admits it so everyone there should know, e.g. http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/s...t=26072&page=4

I guess it was fairly stupid to boast about it, however when I was younger I'd see cars stickered for incredibly trivial issues which have nothing to do with the safety of the car or the public. The cops tend to only do it when someone is being a smartarse or they've taken a dislike to them. It works fine when the cops are decent, but gives a whole lot of scope for some to be *****s.

As a uni student I drove an old rusty run-down european car (can you guess the make?). On several occasions I was pulled over and had traffic cops go right over the car. They always gave it a clean bill of health even though there were some really obvious and dangerous faults staring them in the face. Maybe I was just being such a nice guy?

My funniest experience was having my car stopped and randomly searched for drugs whilst I was in the process of moving house. The car was stacked high with my clothes, bedding, kitchen stuff. Some poor young constable had to stick his hands in and go though 3 bags of my unwashed laundry in the boot.

When I lived in Germany, there was a heavily modified celica that parked in my street - and one of the many stickers on the vehicle was the username of the owner on the german celica owners club forum

There have been numerous rumours about the police monitoring car forums - but I don't think (many) people on here have anything to worry about...

That is one of the reasons I doubt police monitor this forum on a regular basis - unless you are interested in Landrovers (and some may be) there is very little of interest here to a policeman! They've got better things to do. At least I hope they do, since my taxes support them.

Back in the day of my 302 V8 powered Cortina I used to have a few conversations with the constabulary but I never once got canaried in that and that would have been an easy one e.g. no engineers, usually bald or just RW tyres etc etc (I was 18 YO).

I then had a 120y that was a club racer which I drove to work and back every day, a 7 miniute trip that I got stickered at least once a month for everything from noise to loose body work.

I never once gave the coppers a hard time so they didn't give me one, I knew what was wrong with my cars but if your polite and helpful they normally give you the basics to do and then send you on your way.

Since ive been driving landies I have had a few speeding tickets from the dreaded speed cameras and normally only a few cars over the limit so for the amount I find my self over the limit for the said hill asscent it isn't worht complaining about.

As far for i****ts that do crap that they shouldn't and then brag about it, if they do it here then I will happilly dob them into the cops as thats what they deserve.

I expect only the same in return but im not planning on bragging about anything that is illegal.
