That's a load of it, my family has insurance on their farm and part of that insurance is to cover accidents caused by their cattle. And it's up to an exceedingly large amount it covers too.
If the farmer denies it get a lawer and contest it. But I would guess that the farmer just can't be stuffed with the paperwork, not that he dosn't have the cover.
Unfortunatly for me I hit a roo not a cow, and I didn't have a steering protector, end result was me in a ditch upside down.
Not enough damage for me to warrent writing it off (as I only had enough money for either insurance or premium roadside cover, I took the chance and took out road side), as I had to fork out the money myself.
But enough to **** me off......

I thought that you had to have signs out and a minder for stock to legitametly be on the road. I would have thought the cow's owners would be liable otherwise.
No longer have the pics of my 260ZX after it was streamlined by a bus. Was luck there was no one on the passenger side.
Just goes to show that english is a funny language - I got kinda excited when I saw this thread title and thought that someone else had cracked onto Michael Clarke's sheila....:(
The law in Victoria is (as my insurance company states) unless the stock has got out of the paddock due to neglect eg an open gate, poor fencing etc they are classified the same as wildlife and the owner is not responsible despite them admiting liability to me! so after 6 months of trying to get money out the other party, incidently the owners are a Vic government department they cut their losses paid for the damage and I had to pay the $450 excess
