Certainly knocked the s*hit out of that one, judging by the stripe job. Trust you're not to shaken up. The Landy held up well!

I saw a mid 70s statesman with a bar - towed in to Eucla many years ago - it met a 'roo and the car was not well at all.

Prime rump eh? just not the right way of delivery... sorry to see the bent Landy -

animals and roads just dont mix... a bloke i know here clobbered a horse (on road, at about 9pm) a few years ago in a korean sedan - it passed over the drivers part of the cabin and crushed the rear section - killing his four year old son......

The old 'nut on the stub axle' trick eh, Phoenix? Three wheel drive! Driving over bricks in suburbia will do it every time:D :D :D

Easy way to sort out the front brakes, springs, shocks..............

(thats not a leak on the road, by any chance, is it?;)

Not quite, catastrophic bearing failure, never found any of the rollers or cages themselves, rusted away almost completely. as a result, it all slid off over the hub nuts. partly due to the free wheeling hubs as well. Still not 100% sure how it happened, needless to say I pay more attention to wheel bearings now LOL :D

I actually managed to get a pic of the incident published in LROI ;)

Gee! I like your 7.50X16 radial Jack:D and not even a drop of Brake fluid spilled, just needed to spring the trailing shoe back on to the wheel-cylinder:D some poeple can be VERY LUCKY, but then it was only at slow speed, standard speed for a 6 cylinder unit trying to get fuel economy;)

Last year I did this to my car on the beach in Guilderton...

Phoenix: good thing you were where you were. would've been a bit,umm, 'interesting' if it decided to leave at highway speeds - or worse - out in the the bush in 4wd somewhere remote......

many moons ago, the front right departed my Triumph 2500PI at about 80mph somewhere between Cooma and Jindabyne - surprisingly it just fell down a bit a scraped for what seemed like forever - no brakes as the whole assy went west literally took hours to find the 'departee' - scary tho'.......

no indication - it just went - maybe just like yours....

Long time ago, one of my school mates hit a red buck on the Longreach-Winton Rd. and it came through the windscreen into the front seat still kicking and got his girlfriend in the guts with a toenail and bloody near killed her, loss of blood, guts spilled out, septicaemia, long time in hospital, etc. Lucky they were close to Winton and Flying Doctor was already on the airstrip having brought someone in from down the Diamantina to give birth. Still had a reasonable hospital there then with staff and english speaking staff at that.
