    Miele Dishwashers

I picked up a Miele dishwasher off Ebay a couple of days ago, by the time I got it home it had stopped working. Emailed the sellers, 'oh no, we ran a load through it the morning before you picked it up'. They went on to tell me that I'd put it in the back of the truck on its side not on its back. Fine, turn it over this evening (took me two days to find a multimeter, usually trip over it every hour) Didn't need it, one of the capacitors is leaking all over the place.

So, maybe transporting the dishwasher on its side caused the cap to leak. Or the previous owners have been having some intermittent problems.

Found a cap to replace it. Looks like a $10 fix.

Does anyone know anything about fixing these fellas? Should I be looking at other stuff too?

When I installed it I tried to run a cycle, did all the right things, but no water came out. Yes, I did check that the tap was on. Checked what seems to be the inlet solenoid - seemed okay. The capacitor is a motor start one.

    Cheers,
    Simon.

    Sorted.

    Motor start capacitor.

Jaycar doesn't carry them. So went to Wagner who usually have what Jaycar don't, but no joy. So out to Smithfield to RS Australia who really do have one of everything. $10.60 and a spot of solder.

Pretty sure that you can't break it by transporting it on its side rather than back or front. So maybe not in quite as pristine condition as advertised.

    Cheers

Good to see you got it fixed. I've repaired my old one by laying it on it's side. It's not like a washing machine. I don't think anything is under any extra stress in a dw by not having it upright.

I learnt a valuable lesson when I repaired mine: Dishwashers run on electricity as well as water! (And RCD's work really well!)
