high country - fires now floods

Residents of Licola (one of the gateways to our Vic High Country ) have had months of fires on their doorstep and now they have had flash flooding ....... one house destroyed and a few others seriously damaged ....... they must be wondering who they upset upstairs ....

I heard about that... how unlucky. Fires and floods all in a couple of months...

At least the rain might flush the river system out a bit after the fires.

All the rain will do at the moment is was all the ash down into the rivers and then into the catchments.

This isn't unusuall for after fires, it happened in bright in 2003 as well.

At least they have had some rain, we have had 5 mm in the last month.

The words of Dorothea come to mind---

    "I love a sunburnt country
    A land of sweeping plains
    Of ragged mountain ranges
    Of droughts and flooding rains"

It never rains but it pours it seems.
