good LPG mechanic perth, non-LR ??

    Hi

Yes I'm well aware this is a LR forum but ...........

I have a Ford Falcon dedicated gas and it runs like crap at the moment.
Slight miss around 80-110kph and backfires every now and again.

Are there any LPG mechanics who really know thier stuff in the Perth area?

    Any recomnendations would be good.
Even better if they were near Joondalup (where I live)
    or Belmont, (where I work).

I took it to Ford Belmont and they didn't want to know.
They said come back when it wasn't intermittent !

    I wish I never bought a Ford!

    Hi Steve
How long/ks since the leads/plugs were changed????Theye are nearly the root of LPG problems and the first thing a mechanic will change.I would get a good set yourself and change them, see if that fixes it.At least you will save some $$$$ and possibly fix the problem.
My Bro has a really god LPG mate, but on the other side of the planet to you.
Drivesafe Autogas,Rockingham.Spencer is the man 0895921300,tell him you are a mate of Andy and Matt, the Landy Bros,he will look after you.Nice bloke.

    Hi All

    Thanks for the advice.
    It's a BA falcon.
I have just changed the plugs, your right Andy a bit of a pain.
But seeing as I was removing the valve/rocker cover anyway it wasn't such a hardship.

I was a bit reluctant to change the leads straight off because each of the 6 cylinders have it’s own coil built into the lead.
I’m sure it’s not going to be cheap. I suppose I’ll just have to suffer it though.

I did notice that when I changed the plugs the leads had a slight white powder on some of them but not a lot. I was told this is not good but I wasn’t sure how much isn’t good or any at all and they need changing?
    I’ll price them up tomorrow.

I hate spending money on my Ford.
Funny thing it I was just pricing up some magnacore leads for the Rangie and it’s running fine.

    Hi Andy
    thanks m8

I think i'll get the leads changed after that I'll be stumped.
If that doesn't work I'll give him a call, shame it's down Rockingham though.

    just an update .............
I changed the plugs which after a week or so improved things no end. dunno why it wasn't straight away though? I got those iridium thingys. only $12 each.

I didn't bother changing the coil packs as there are 6 @ $70 each ! and I thought landys were expensive.

Does anyone know if you can test a coil pack ?

Still a very slight miss now and again but not as bad as before, if you drove it you prob wouldn't notice it if I didn't point it out, oh and no back fire.

So much for Ford Dealer services !
I think I'll stick with a friendly local Landy mechanic, I guess mentioning his name would be advertising but most from WA know him by now anyway

Iridium plugs have been fantastic for my Landy on LPG. Where did you get them from in Perth for $12?? Mine are up for replacement and I'm struggling to find them under about $21. Multiply by 8 and the number get's too big!

I'm guessing you connect a spark plug, make sure it's earthed and then visually check the strength of the spark? Never test modern coils without a spark plug connected to them though (ie. don't do the traditional lead-near-the-block how-far-will-it jump test).
