    TD5 performance

Hi everyone just been reading latest 4wd monthly mag and one the journos owns a TD5 Defender and they put in a performance chip. Now not that 0-100 times mean a great deal in a 4wd but i was bit shocked when he said in standard form they timed his at wait for it......... 34 seconds to 100 this was with 33 inch tyres and bullbar steps and the like. With the chip it brought it down to 22 secs 12 sec improvement which is a good in anyones language.
With them doing up a rangie which they do plan put in 4.6 we might turn them into Landrover monthly.

Think she's referring to a 300tdi with the square shoulder gears.

Need a nice long rest between changes.

    Cheers

    Nope TD5

But even a 300 isn't that slow (for gear changes) never timed 0-100 though, not really that important.

Is the TD5 that much better on road than the 300TDi?

The only one I drove was a basic hardtop, empty, where my 98 Defender Wagon has Bbar, Kaymar whl carrier, 150 000km, and the TD5 felt like a rocket. But I wonder what it would be like in a wagon with all the gear and mt 900kg trailer.
