    freelander2 smaller than freelander1 inside

Well I was all keen on the fl2 to replace our 02 fl1. It's 4.5yrs old so was thinking of a change. Now I'm 2m tall and the current fl is great on room. But the boot is small - with our new baby his pram occupies the whole boot! So the new bigger fl sounds a treat ... until you compare stats ...

    freelander1
    front leg room 1062mm
    rear leg room 934mm
    Front shoulder room 1420mm
    Rear shoulder room 1350mm

    freelander2
    front leg room 990mm
    rear leg room 925mm
    Front shoulder room 1465mm
    Rear shoulder room 1460mm

Less legroom front and rear! 72mm at the front is a big loss.

Dissappointing ... I'll wait till I sit in it but it does not sound promising ...

That's interesting. I sat in the new one the Motorshow and felt claustrophobic. I got the impression the cabin space was bigger and more airy on the original and wondered what all the latest hype was about. I was expecting better.

The F2 did nothing for me, particulary as even with the seat as high as possible its bulbous bonnet obscured low level vision to the front, and then there were some truly horrible bits of plastic wood in the dashboard.

Looks like they're betting on everyone getting shorter and wider.

True, but it's a bit silly to steal passenger room

I missed going to the show, but everything I read had it being a lot bigger ... so it was interesting to compare stats.
