Makes you wonder if D3's are going to suffer the same depreciation fate.

Probably as the D3 is not selling all that well - even elsewhere in the world. The RRS is the best selling Landrover model around the world and according to Just 4x4, the RRS is now outselling the D3 in Australia 81 to 70 in Jan 07.

I'm afraid the depreciation (or lack therof) on the fender is certainly one of their appeals.

Yep I reckon values of RRS's will hold up better than D3's even though they are basically the same car.

Right place at the right time.

Don't let your friend get carried away upping the budget. Just spend a little more time keeping an eye on the market.

I just picked up a 2001 TD5 with 125k on the clock for 19k.( the one in the pic)

ONe owner, full LR service history and loads of genuine LR accessories.

When he gets around to buying, look at the car and have a reasonable offer in mind that you know he will accept. Then take it to get checked out at good LR mechanic. In the mean time you pretty much struck a deal pending the outcome of the check, if it needs any work you take the price of the work directly off your offer.

You can't argue with this mehtod, its honest and it works every time for private sales.

You get the car you want for the price you want, its been checked out and you have the money up your sleeve to fix it.

My advertiser was asking 22k and he could have got it.

Thank you, I wasn't looking for to long but I did have some idea what was value and what wasn't.

Its manual, has LR sheep skins on the front, Milford cargo barrier, load space cover factory reece hitch, Cibie spot lights, dual battery with dual rear 12v points and factory floor matts throughout. Its in fantastic condition but I still want to get it dirty.

for what its worth... i picked up a late 2002 td5 auto from local auction house for 22k has full stealer service history and had 85k (ish) on it.. few small dings on it where doors have been opened into it... but nothing that cant be repaired!

i walked past the auction and said i wanted to buy it... how much?.. they bought it off themselves (as thay are a dealer) and sold it to me.. thats compared to most places selling the equivalent for around 30k+

it has everything except leather and ace.. and suits me nicely! also got great fuel economy at around 800-850k's per tank (standard 90l) and thats mostly sitting in traffic or nailing it around..

    dunno if that helps tho...

    Thanks

    Steve
