There are two ways of looking at that - Landrover, unlike most of the company, is making money - do they keep it to prop up the rest (sound familiar?) or do they sell it because it will make more money since it is making a profit? Jaguar is losing money, so putting the two in the same basket is unlikely. Actually both model lines are becoming so closely meshed with the rest of the empire that selling either is unlikely.
Of course, the motor industry as a whole is losing money - worldwide there are just too many manufacturers making too many cars in too many models. Probably the only manufacturer in good financial shape is Toyota, as far as the rest are concerned its just a matter of which ones are worse. And as China and India gear up to produce huge numbers of cheap cars, which will probably meet consumers' wants everywhere in a few years, even if they don't today ................

TVR still makes cars in the UK? British aren't they?
Had a quick look at the Bristol website, the Blenheim 3 looks like a soviet era relic... but the Fighter SCR is interesting, maybe.......
I think there is a myriad of small volume makers in the UK - some guy even makes amphibs in small volume, from Zook 4wds as a base.......

Nah very sadly they are now owned by the russians
Although great story with TVR. They were not sold in alot of countrys because Trevor the owner (hence the TVR name ) refused to make a left hand drive one as he belive that all the world should drive on the left (like the uk) and driving from the glove box side of the car was wrong :D :D
Yeah the sale has been on the cards for months. Stumbling block was allegedly the AM management wanting to retain access to Ford's R&D, test tracks etc.
Not sure whether it is good news. They shared a lot of underpinnings with Jaguar, but not any longer. Deep pockets to develop new platforms now. On the other hand, Rolls Royce & Bentley seem to be faring ok seperately.
Daimler Benz trying to unload Chrysler, China buying MG, Rover, Austin, Morris, Austin Healey etc - where will it end?
And whose got Lotus atm?

Max P
Lotus went to Proton I think......
