We need a plumber in town(Williams).
We had a self employed plumber,the shire provided a house.
Plenty of work,only a couple in Narrogin,endless work in Williams/Darkan/Boddington.
Big housing boom on due to the mine in Boddington.
Yell out if you guys need any local contacts.will see what I can do.

The problem with moving out of home before you are in your chosen career is expenses. For example if you are earning $50k per year doing a dead end job that you hate so you decide to do an apprenticeship or do further study you need to think hard how you are going to pay your rent/mortgage, electricity, rego, fuel, Landy repairs etc.
So my advice is that if you are looking to do an apprenticeship then go with your Dad.
You won't be losing your friends, you'll just be a bit further away!.
Everything in life has risks and opportunty costs (ie in order to get something you generally have to give up something).
So, do you reckon you'll be here by Easter?:D

your young, move around, experience different things and places. You'll be a better person for it and will appreciate when your older.:D
When I took redundancy at 54 (nearly 55), I applied for two jobs in fields I knew nothing about and got one of them (the one I didn't get was in a mental hospital). I've been there 5 years now and it pays good money for doing very little. I could get promotion and lots more money but I'm not interested in that.Quote:

Here is what I think: go with your dad.
Here is why I think so:
1. Friends - once you're on the other side you'll make more and you'll find out who your real friends are in the East. Those who call and email and stay in touch are friends... we found out who our friends realy are. You'll make new friend very quickly.
2. Your dad - stay with him as he may need you more than he or you think. Setting up again is more fun when there is two of you.
3. Work - you're young and while still studying makes more sense to live with your dad. It's better for you not to worry too much about finances while trying to study.
4. You can always move back - pack up your landy and go for a drive. That would be a bit harder from Europe and with a kid...
5. Enjoy the change - it's as good as a holiday
6. WA... hm.... tempting
7. Packing up - good way for a 'life laundry'. Get rid of stuff you never use anyway.
In about two and a half weeks I will be on a plane back to Sydney. All I have (apart from my landies - they are waiting for me there) will be in a container on some rust-bucket slowly making their way.
Do I feel like settling in? No freaking way. Got the 'moving around the planet bug'... so I am looking at jobs in Cairns, Darwin and Perth. See a pattern here? FAAAAAAARRRR away from Sydney :D
Probably will come back one day... maybe.
I have to agree with some of the others here, when i finished my chefs apprenticeship i went to the UK for 3 years, worked in Israel during the first Gulf War, travelled all over Africa/ Middle East/ Europe/ Asia and then came back and went to work in Adelaide where i met my wife. It will strengthen you and give you confidence in your own ability and you will never look back, do it you know you want to, see if you can get some work in the mines and then when and if you come back east you will be cashed up.
I asked dad and we would be moving to Bunbury. Everyone is making points that I am considering, I do know it is easier to live at home but the oppurtunity to move out now is better then ever really. If I could score an apprenticeship at LR in Perth it would also be a lot easier to move there only being 2 hours south.

When I was your age, I bought an old Toyota Crown for fifty bucks and decided to leave Adelaide as there was bugger all work there at the time. I drove as far as Merredin in WA cause I didn't have enough money to fill the tank any more after that. Met a bloke in the pub the next day and got a casual job roof tiling. I've lived all over WA since then, put myself through uni as a mature age student and still living over here and loving it. I'm now 50, have a wife and two kids - youngest is your age and just completed apprenticeship in Kalgoorlie as diesel mechanic - both kids still living at home, although I don't see a lot of them sometimes - they've got their own lives.
Life is what you make it. Opportunities are there for you wherever you go - all you have to do is look for them. Your dad won't have any problems finding work as a plumber over here, and you won't have any problems finding work either if you're prepared to look for it. Bunbury is not a bad place - I get down there occasionally to visit friends. So it's up to you really, but best of luck in whatever you choose.
Romper, why do you feel you have to move out on your own?
Sounds like you get on with your dad, so why not stick with him? He is your dad - one day you wont have any parents so enjoy him while you can...
And enjoy your life and have fun, experience stuff, it does get hot over there, but it gets hot where you have lived for aeons..
