I would be interested in a WA get together.
We would have to meet somewhere central to everyone

Doesn't leave much area to choose from......
Somewhere between the Pilbara and Esperance I reckon

Why not team up with Barbagallos and have our own 'Cooma 60th Anniversary' version here in Perth. I reckon there would be a huge turnout. You could even have a Land Rover swap meet as part of the celebrations.

I think it would be great to organise something here in WA I think the only big problem would be finding some where to hold an event, even if it's just a big bbq and tall story telling we should do something, (we those who cant make it to cooma).

So anyone know anyone with a big chunk of land they would let us use?
Even better if it had a bit of rough terrain to show what Landy's can do.

Hey Andy, you work for a Shire don't you, anything like that around your way?
I work for a shire too but it's all urban stuff.

Ok people, what we need is a location, possably a farm/big block, with a shed + water supply, chuck in a couple of porta loos and shire permit for camp fires and we would have a event.
Location????? north of Bridgetown south of Carnavon, pick a spot.

I had a quick look yesterday at the AHG driver training facility at Grogan Rd, Perth Airport. They have a large open area devoted to 4x4 training with facilities etc.
This may be an option as you could have displays, 4x4 driving etc.

    This is their web site.

    Hi Steve
    Nothing suitable down here.
The idea of the AHG place would be great.
Getting Southerns/Barbagallos behind it would be worth trying.Especially if they have a fleet of demonstrators to take around the track!!!!!
See what the WA LROC people come up with.

That sounds good if they would let us.
Does anyone know anyone connected to AHG?
I would be better than cold calling.

I work for a company that is part of the AHG organisation.

On Monday I will see our GM and find out some contact details, if he knows them. As the AHG Driving Centre to my understanding isn't part of AHG, it is DTEC but AHG is the naming sponsor. I could be wrong but that is how I understand it.

I think before we contact them, we need to get a handle on how big this will be or what we are trying to achieve, i.e.

    1. Just a get together of Land Rover nuts like us from AULRO and LROCWA.
    2. Above but at the driving centre I think there would be a cost to use the 4WD track.
    3. No 2 plus involve Barbagallo/Southerns for Demo rides, It now becomes bigger as I believe they would only be interested if they can use this as an opportunity to sell new vehicles. Which were now talking advertising to bring in a crowd. Which a commitee would have to be formed and we are now talking about an event.

I may have gone over the top on point 3. So let me know what you think. Maybe we should start a vote.

I personally prefer just a meet with all you fine people on here. possibly in the bush at a nice big campsite. Checkout each others rigs tell stories, have a few sherberts etc.

I suppose it would depend on what sort of support it gets.
If after talking to different organisations, AHG, land rover dealers and/or independents if we get lots of interest then why not go for the biggie.
If we need liability insurance, toilets, fist aid etc charge anyone who attends a small cover fee like $5 to cover stuff like that, (not to make money).

If it’s ends up a cross AULRO/LROCWA event then that’s OK too but it would just need less organisation and we take a shovel :- )

Committees hmmm if it gets big we might need one but maybe it would be best if anyone has a specific connection they could speak up and talk to the connection and let them know and see if they would attend. When I say connection I just mean that say phil633 has a connection with AHG. Others might be friendly with Barbagallo, Rovacraft, ARB or whoever.

I think you are right though if it got big it would take a bit of organizing but I’m sure we can rise to the challenge if it’s needed.

As a side point it would be nice to see some of the ex-military stuff or a FC or two.
