    degreaser

Rightio folks, recommendations on a good degreaser. I spent today spraying the cheap crap on followed by a steam clean and so far ive got one side of Elsa's gearbox clean. Now ive just got the rest of the gearbox followed by the bellhousing and the engine to do and there has to be a simpler, easier way to do this.

I use the Lanotec Citra-Force. I can't say its the best, it does the job for me though and there's a nice fresh smell of oranges when you've cleaned everything up.

Also is good for cleaning floors!

I can recomend a chemical i have used to degrease my engine, Ardrox 1900B, It is an aircraft flap and gear well cleaner. it is a gel like liquid you can spray out of a pressure sprayer and it dosn't run off. Then you just let it sit for a while (approx 10mins) and hose it off. Works better than all the degreasers i have used befor and is non corrosive and much more user friendly. I'll find out the supplier from work and will post details.

Just about anything involving water is a no no up here (approaching level 5 restrictions). Plus the landy is in a garage so spraying water round is not an option. I cant even wheel her outside due to a slopeing driveway . Hence the steam cleaner and a big mess on the floor. Ive had success with the el cheapo degreaser in the aerosol packs but it has to be brushed in to work. I cant get at the engine well enough to brush anything in and there is a hell of a lot of grease on the block and bell housing as well as the chassis North of the bulkhead. Landrovers patented anti rust system indeed. Im after something that will spray on and penetrate and then come off easily under the steamer. Doing it once is bearable doing it over and over looses its appeal. That said however the side ive cleaned you could eat off.

    Ahh.

I attach my high pressure cleaner to the rainwater tank I've recently installed.

The last lot of high pressure washing I did over a very large and cheap blue poly tarp.

The Disco I had cleaned at a local truck wash.

Break clean works well for me or just some kero but use it like a parts washer with a tub and a brush and keep appying it with the brush and let it fall back into the tub.
Then give it a good spray with break clean and a wipe off and it will look brand new.
