Would cutting the Wrights seat ox cover to access battery and storage box lessen the sound deadening effect?

mine has similar (but not identical) stuff to that on the wright off road site.. it is cut for seat box access, but also has a second layer of 5mm closed cell foam cut at least an inch larger on top, plus the elephant hide vinyl cut to the larger size, this gives a staggered seal which seems to work pretty well.
