    Wheel/tyre swap ?

I have a set of steel disco rims that have dunlop MT2 265/75/16's fitted to and i would be interested in swapping for the same near enough but in 245/70 or 75 /16 size. I had these on my old rangie but to fit my disco i need to do cutting which i wont do. Would need to be in Vic to be able see before taking the plunge. If anyone with 265/75/16's fitted have done so without hacking i would be interested if seeing pics.

    thanks,
    Nick.

I just did a big search on everything required to fit 265/75 16 to a D1 and found that without a suspension lift, guard cut and larger offset rims with flares it just isn't a worthwhile option.

Lift is on the list but i wont cut the guards apart from trimming the inner lip, 245/75's fit nicely . Or i may keep them for my rangie and just get some tyres for my other set of disco rims but dont want to fork out any more or the boss will kill me

Nick, my experience is that 265/75/16's are really pushing the limits of tyre sizes on a D1 without doing the whole BL and guard chop thing. They just don't tuck into the wheel wells like narrower tyres.

My MTZ's are this size and i have had to open up the rear guards a lot more than i needed to with my 235/85's. I now also have scrubbing on the front guards also (which can be fixed easily enough though). BTW, all this is with a 2" spring lift.

IMO, the 265/75's are better on road than the 235/85's but the height difference off-road is marginal (depending on make) and probably not worth all the effort of making them fit.

Not sure on the OD of that but 32s and above need guard chopping on the disco, regardless of how much suspension lift etc there is it still needs that clearance under compression. Running 235/85s and had rubbing even when going into steeper driveways. No probs with steering lock though.

265/75/16's are close enough to 31" but its the width that is the problem. I had 23/85's on my rangie which was fine but gearing was thrown out quite a bit.

I don't know about actual manufacturer sizes but 265/75 comes out at about 31.6in and 265/70 about 30.6in or roughly the same as 245/75
