Sounds like a good project. hope it comes together well
Gday
Just bought SWB lll for my oldest boy to do up with him, I am basically guttering it and chasing a few things and some info. Car was running before stripping only on three cylinders though, waiting on regrind kit $44 great price I thought.
1, New/ second hand dash box and dash - guages are ok but it looks like there was a small fire in the box or a really bad short which melted a few other wires. Mostly ok but replacing damaged wires.
2, Gear box with overdrive is pretty reasonable but jumps out of first when backing off on the gas, my thoughts are that the springs are worn on the detents for the selector or worn selector shaft.
3, Suspension is sagging a bit which will need to be replaced, I am looking at 2" to 4" lift kit and maybe a body lift as well, any ideas?
4, Last thing for now is rims, I cant afford to go new at this stage but the boy dosent want to leave the cheese cutters on it, I have chased up a few wreckers but no luck at this stage and no engineering shops will cut and weld centres into other rims.
It is a bit hard up in the north west to get anything as it is limited to whats available. Cheers for any replies
Thanks
Bazz

If you look at the top of this page, just above the words "General Chat" on the greenish-yellow bar (well, it is on my screen anyway) you'll find the words "User CP". Click on that to take you to the User Control Panel. On the left hand side of the page that comes up is a box labelled "Control Panel", and immediately below that "Settings and Options". Third down under "Settings and Options" is "Edit Profile". Click on that, and near the bottom of the page that comes up is a place to put in your location. You may find other settings there that you want to change as well.

As for rims, no way will most people touch that work. Takes Government tickets to do that. Best is to stick to stock. Going to wide rims on an old girl can really put some stress on the front end. Steering, suspension, and the front drive and swivells, all get far too much stress from the extra friction\traction\loading that wide rims produce. The result is premature failure. Anyway, 750X16 are cheaper than the big wide stuff. Young lad, not a lot of cash in hand.
Driving in sandy country? Use Dunlop RTM's, at about 18\20 PSI, and they will V-belt themselves anywhere. Just LOUD on the black stuff is all.
Shorty.
