It is unlikely to be checked unless you have really offended some inspector or policeman and they are looking for something to get you on - so few cars have flat windscreens (and hence CAN use cut glass) that they are very unlikely to look at it, at least the windscreen. The reason for requiring the glass to be marked is obvious - it is the only way you can tell it is laminated after it is installed.

I think you could just keep a pair of polarising sunglasses in the car, pretty sure that the laminations show up as blobs or a grid pattern of light and dark.Quote:

Remember....when you get the glass and fit it.....be very careful doing up the screws in the windscreen frame.
a little here and a little there, and very slowly, making sure to do them up a little at a time opposite each other.

That is why you use a good bead of Mastic around the glass, I gather that you have been there and done that, :) you should try it with a Shatterproof w/screen glass :eek: getting ALL the little bits of glass out of your hair and face can take weeks:(

No. That shows up toughened glass not laminated. I know laminated is required in new vehicles (and has been for twenty years or more), but I am not sure whether it is needed for replacements on older vehicles originally fitted with toughened glass.Quote:
