Yup, the land rover 2.6L was a detuned Rover 3.0L car unit. THe rover engine is a straight drop in conversion if you can find one, and is probably a better engines in many respects.

Well done Fenian... a brilliant find
Ah common thought that.
My old man & I have a few and a huge shed full of bits. He still has two registered, and they are pristine, one with about 100,000 genuine miles. I have an Aspen green V8 Super, got it about 22 years ago, it's a ripper. It's on the restoration to do list - after the Landys and before an ugly Orange deluxe:D I sold two Executives in 2003 too.:(
Mine was a Corinthian Blue Executive. Was a bit much on apprentice money. Good gangster car though. And awsome :burnrubber:
We had the P76 6 Cylinder. The thing was a rocket!
Local copers knew my mum's car.
Was quite common for them to pull her over after picking us young ones up with
"Afternoon mrs Newman running a little late today arn't you?"
Followed with Slow down.
Will admit the car was ex RAAF. Used to be stripped and rebuilt all the time for their training so was spot on.
