I agree with reads, Money talks and Bull**** walks.

I have had many people burn me even after leaving $50 deposit on a $2000 car (one was a subaru) and never come back or answer their phone, I think that is worse as I had about 5 calls on the car that week and had spent $80 on advertising and I was telling all the other 5 people it was sold.

So then I had to advertise it again and in the end it sat on my front lawn for months and ended up selling it on ebay for $500 just to get rid of it as it ran out of rego.

You only take the word of people worthy of giving it and that doesnt include a stranger that you spoke to on the phone or has wandered in to look at a car, house, block of land or anything.

I agree that it would be annoying and upsetting and I dont think it is ethical if you were working with his terms as that would peive me off too.

Selling to the open wallet is fine.

Just that the bloke gave me the impression there wasn't another time between phone call and when I called him to get in contact or see vehicle or I would have made a lot more effort.

And, of course, if I leave my name and phone number to a private seller I expect that to send a message that I'm serious, and I take that message from a buyer when I'm selling something.

btw 98 Forester limited 220k full dealer service history, ACT, highway kms to snow and Sydney, $7500.

    Cheers
    Simon.

That was a pretty good price, Simon. I would have thought it should sell for more than that! Maybe it was a lemon!

we live in a captialist market orientated society and its called free to trade, we have fought wars over the right to buy and sell, our social policies and foreign policy is based on the free market.

people will sell anything to anyone for the right price

friend of mine father and mother bought a house on the gold coast in the 1990's the day they were moving in, someone knocked on the door and offered the husband $50,000 more that what he paid for it to buy it, Harry turned to the wife and said don't bother unpacking anymore we are moving, she said its the house of my dreams, harry said don't worry l will buy you another dream, and told the durniture removalist to take all the belongings to storage.

Harry bought another house a week later and took the wife on aholiday to America and Europe and bought a new car on their return.

Remember years ago dad was buying a house. realestate said it was advertised as an open house for the next day and they wouldn't be able to cancell so did he mind. He was ok with that and put his deposit down. Next day he took all of us to see our new house. The agent at the viewing didn't know dad so after seeing all of us kids running around deciding who go what rooms told dad that the house was under offer but if he was willing to pay $1000 he could have it instead.
Dad thanked him took the card and we went home. He emidiatly rang the agents office informed them of what had happened and said he would be there in 10 minutes to collect his deposit. House was still for sale a year later.

    Hi,

I'm in the final stages of selling my car and my wife's car and buying two replacement cars.

For my wife, we wanted a Volvo 850R wagon (I wanted, hehehe!) , pretty rare, saw one advertised in Geelong, rang the Dealer, asked about the Volvo 850R, a girl said, "yeh it's here" I said " Cool, I'll drive down there to look and have a drive" (from Melb, 1hr 15mins drive), got down there, the head of the Dealer, says "sorry mate, It's at the panel shop, getting some scratches removed from the roof. won't be back till next week" , said the girl who answered the phone was the cleaning lady! . I say I'm really keen, (I would have bought it straight away, as there are not many around). He says I could go to the panel shop and look at it, but it's partly covered because of the respraying to the roof. No worries, (really keen) Have a look at it at the panel shop somewhere else in Geelong, ring the dealer, tell him I like it and ask when it'll be ready for a drive, he says "maybe tomorrow or the next day". Excellent, call me as soon as its ready. Never heard back. (he wrote my number in his diary) .

My theory is, it was already sold, being prepared for the sale etc..., so he strung me along like a sucker in case the sale fell through. P***d off

(Another 850R wagon was advertised later and I bought it the second day it was advertised)

My 130 CC goes tomorrow (sold) but I'm not pulling the ad on Carsales until I've got the bank cheque in the bank. Paid Deposit on '99 Disco S2 Td5, still a little worried that he may sell to a higher bidder.

    Cheers Ben 00 Td5 cc130 (soon to be 99 Disco Td5)
