what time do you reckon we will get to the park for lunch
i might have to be rude and nick off after lunch and head back upto the resort and let the kids feed the parrots. would like to get home earlier than 10pm for the kids
Hi folks, looks like we have a few coming and will be looking forward to seeing you all.
Now for some recommendations.
As we will be having a late lunch come early diner, I would recommend bringing along some muchies for the little ( and big ) kids and bring some extra water with you, both drinking and washing water as there is nowhere to get water once we leave Canungra. Water is available at Darlington Park.
Outlaw is bringing his HUGE BBQ, so even if the park is busy when we get there, we can still have a good cooking session and bring some chairs so we can have a gabfest while dinning.
And don’t forget to bring your cameras.
As posted, we will be having a demo or two on how the carry out a snatch recovery and everybody will be doing some driving as we will be showing you a very simple exercise that you can do at home or even while driving along on the black stuff.
This exercise will greatly improve your ability to be able to drive off road but this is all I’m posting about this at this time.
The times posted above, for the meeting locations are set in concrete but after we leave Canungra, we will take it as it comes and if there is any interest in stopping or spending more time at planned diversions, SO BE IT.
Depending on how much fun we are having at Darlington park will govern the departure time from there, but I suspect we should actually be home a little earlier than posted.
Cheers and if you have any questions, please post them.
Hey people,
I've been trying my damnedest to get along on this drive with my wife (I don't have my Landie yet) - tried getting a Cruiser from work - no go, tried talking mate into taking me in his Jackeroo - no go.
So - will my Mazda 626 make it? If so, would it be OK if I tag along and just watch the demonstrations and bring some grub and beer for the BBQ? I can be at the Canungra meeting spot - white 626 710EDF.
If its a hassle to have a car in the convoy just say so - I'll hold out until October.

I've put standard cars & even a big roadbike up that rd, but it will be a challenge, not just point & shoot. I haven't been up it in a few months. If it has been graded again recently the bigger fist size gibbers tend to get pulled up & scattered, plus the erosion contours tend to belly a car if you're not careful. A FWD will be more prone wheelspin too.
Depends how much do you like your mazda.
Hi Scallops, as long as it doesn’t rain, there will be no problems with driving a car and your welcome to do so BUT if is rains, it’s an absolute no go for the car.
It hasn't rained since I was last up there so, so far so good and the weather forecast if for continuing fine and sunny conditions.
Cheers.
I'll be coming too, sorry about the very late reply. I will meet up with you at Canungra. Looking forward to meeting eveyone.
Cheers, Mick.
