    Roof top tent insurance?

We've just been to our insurance company and they have told us that there is no way that they can insure our roof top tent.

They cannot insure it under the car insurance or the house and contents insurance. Their bottom line is that canvas or fabric products such as tents cannot be insured.

Has anyone insured a roof top tent or a tent of any sort for that matter?

Our camper trailer is insured with RACQ and had no problems with the fact it was canvas. And they have all the details about the Anex and all the extras bits

Our camper is covered by NRMA and they also wanted to know how much the annex was worth.

That's interesting because its RACV that is refusing to do it for us. Wonder if that is because its a camper trailer...

This sounds very strange My fiance is an insurance broker and our roof top tent is insured when on the vehicle through the car insurance and when off the vehicle at home through our home and contents insurance.
As we have a glorified carport and not a garage we hoist our tent up against the roof when not in use and we took photos for the insurance company to approve it's inclusion in our home and contents insurance.
Both our insurance policies are with CGU.

    Hi Nat,
Hope you like the tent, I insured it with Allianz as part of our policy.
Hmn wonder if I can get a discount now that I don't have it any more?

    cheers
