transit and land rover service intervals

The transit in the Uk has a 100,000 mile (160,000ks)serivce interval (yeap thats right no oil change for 160,000 k's)
So the question is what will be the service intervals for the new defender be as it will have the same engine
After all In the Uk the TD5 90 was 6000 miles and the disco Td5 was 12,000, which was always strange

Have to ask, would you trust your oil for 100,000miles?? in any engine??
Does not sit right with me. That may turn out to be 8 odd years at average mileage. But then the 20,000kms Defender servicing did not either. I still change my oil every 5,000kms and oil and filters every 10,000kms regardless.

So if the oil change is 160,000km what is the recommended service interval for the transit over there?

I have VW passat in the uk and the first Serice and i mean first serivce was 20,000 k's
And then every 20,000k's . Same with the pug 407

On the ford UK website they will sell you scheduled servicing for the transit for 438 pounds +VAT. it is 4 services in 2 years, so looks like the usual oil changes every 6 months. the 100,000 mile services in the US dont factor in the oil/filter changes either, it is tune up only.

100,000 miles + no oil change = KABOOM!

    form the auto channel website:

The servicing intervals for Transit diesel engines is 15,000 miles/one year.

Ahh ok i heard it was the oil as well. Which i was shocked at and thought was unreal. Seems you are right and it is unreal. I could not belive anyone would put oil in a car and leave it there that long

Geez Reads you are a comedian

Did you forget that Land Rovers drain their own oil? All we as owners have to do is change the filter and top it up
