Land Rover have just announced a new updated warranty for all vehicles to show their confidence in their new line up.

Range Rover will get a 6 month warranty, all electrical claims exempt.Owner must pay for all parts and labour. If they have enough money to buy one of these they will be stupid enough to pay for everything. This is exclusive and Range Rover guarantee no other manufacturer will offer this service.
Disco 3 will get a 3 month warranty, excluding electrics, air suspension, drive train and engine.
New 2007 Defender will get a 30 day warranty, vehicle must be taken to the opposite side of the country it was purchased for any rpairs at the owners expense. Warranty excludes electrics, drive train, engine, body work, glass, interior fittings, diffs, wheels, limited warranty on cd player (owner must personally return to Soliull and sit in the rain for 3 days while boffins take a look and laugh themselves silly at stupid Defender owner).

On all products inspection must be made weekly by Land Rover Service agent in South Africa or warranty is voided.
Warranty will be voided on all vehicles if they are driven off road.
Warranty may be voided if vehicle driven.

Well thats what it feels like at the moment.
I love my Landys but with the non existent service backup I fear my next 4x4 will be a nippon wagon. Why can they not appoint a few independent workshops and offer factory support?
At least another dealership used to offer servicing etc in most towns in the old days.

Hyundai had to give a 5 year warranty to sell any vehicles because the early ones were so so terrible. Must have cost them a fortune but it got them market share & now look at them.

Much the same as the early 2003 L322 Rangies having a 5 year warranty because of the reputation of the P38.......

You would think that Ford dealers would be able to offer servicing. The engines are Ford so presumably so are the ECUs? So they should plug into their computers?

There was talk of that being the case (and some repairs too) when LR started closing most of the country dealers. It looks like it was only talk though, no action .

How is the rangie doing scouse?

No matter how good something filters oil it still looses its lubricating properties over time. 5000km would be my service interval no matter what.

Great, so far so good . There's been a couple of niggly problems but nothing drastic:
    Replaced O/S/F airspring (2 x new ones were supplied with the car);
    Repaired jamming ignition barrell.

There's a couple of other problems which the car had when I bought it, some have been fixed, others left as is.

It's not used everyday so that's probably helping things; it's only done 2000km in 4 months.

Im suing landrover for warrenty copyright infringement...

I hear tell of them using my 30x30 concrete guarentee clauses as the basis of the new warrenty..

    heres the original version..

I guarntee that your vehicle will work untill the first of the following clauses are met.

    1. It has been running for 30 seconds.
    2. I have moved more than 30 feet away from it
    3. you get it off the concrete slab it was fixed on (slab; the individual square of concrete, constructed in one single frame and pour operation, that the vehicle was repaired on, not the structural base of the workshop in its entirity)
    4. you pointing out any gramatical or spelling errors in the guarentee.

Reading this document infers your acceptence of the terms and conditions detail within. Similarly, listening to these terms and conditions via any medium also infers your acceptance.

For spelling call Rogets, for mechanicing call me.
