Coffin Bay SA
Just a quick question, were heading down that way over Easter, some good four wheel driving and beautiful place. Taking friends who are bringing their boat, anyone have any good fishing spots.... (especially if you have GPS plots! Would be able to exchange with snapper drops for your next visit to Whyalla)

Don't forget your mask and (personal not vehicle)snorkle, the scallops, freshly caught in Coffin Bay, are fantastic on the BBQ. Watch out for the odd Great White.......

Always wanted to learn to surf..... Only thing is the Great Whites seem to think the same spots are great!
(Says this after growing up in Darwin racing mates around croc traps in sailing dingies!)

Coffin Bay is a great little spot. The bay is pretty big, couple of small islands, seals, the odd shark. Touristy oyster farm.
Locals, Digger and Charlie Brown, (blonde and very pretty) are a fun couple to catch up to. He owns the old Flinders Island trading boat, story or two to tell on the area, and his family involvement with farming on the island.
Shorty.

Thanks everyone,
We had a great trip and strongly recommend Coffin Bay to anyone, but especially if you have kids (we have 4 1/2 year old twin boys and an almost 2 year old daughter, our friends have 2 year old twins and a 7 year old daughter) Lots of sandy beaches, Great National Park that has some soft sand in parts but not too much trouble. Great boat ramp and facilities, good cheap accomodation. (We hired 2 units with everything but linen for $95 Each a night. There were BBQ's, grass area, sand pit and slide, games room, boat washing area and fish cleaning facilities. Great on site owners who also helped out with some fishing spots. Although we didn't do all that well! (some whiting and tommies) They also gave us a slab of tuna they caught one morning to try!
Great little jetty to fish off and very friendly community. Just a thought to anyone heading towards the area over the last year or so we have noticed that there is a shell garage on your way to the Kirton Point Caravan Park (near the grain silos) in Pt Lincoln that is consistently cheaper than everywhere else (and often cheaper than Whyalla!) Going down we filled up here for $131.9 in Lincoln on Friday then again on the way back on Monday it was $124.9
