OMG that is worse than my Beer bottle and Volvo parts collection
Now if you happen to come across a good lcd screen that will suit a Toshiba A10 I need one. Dodgy Sharp lcds, known to fail apparently. Have replaced the invertor and is not that so according to local computer techs needs a new screen. So any one having a Toshiba screen A10 or similar for wrecking let me know.
How much can I get for a working p50? :)
Did you replace the tube when you replaced the invertor? Often enough it's the tube that's gone. I haven't replaced a tube before, but I've replaced screens on laptops often enough. Takes between half an hour and an hour depending on how tricky the hinges and wire from the screen to the keyboard are.
I saw a bunch on ebay.com but they're all at about $150. For this kind of stuff I usually set up a search and wait for the right bit to turn up at the right price, but I've got lots of spare computers and lots of patience for that stuff.
Cheers
Simon
Not hard to pull the screen out and replace, just getting the right size screen at a decent price. From what I can see it does not have a seperate CCFL lamp but is one of the lcds with it built in. Pulled it apart the other night to have a look and the wires from the invertor go straight in to the screen and does not apear to got to a lamp. This is probablly why the techy I had look at it initially said if it is not the invertor in these the screens need replacing. Was not game to pull all the backing layers of the lcd apart to check, but did pull off the framing and glass to check. The lcd still works but is dark. Apparently a well known problem with Toshibas with these Sharp screens. If anyone knows any different please post.
I think that the screen working but being too dark to see is classic blown ccfl behaviour. Try this site http://www.laptopsockets.co.uk/backl...Backlights.htm
And here are some pics

The problem I have is that I have pulled it apart and can find the invertor easily but not a ccfl lamp, yet on the back of the lcd it says ccfl? Any thing I need to know where to find it?
