With the partial refund, I bought a new 500MB 2.5" SATA drive today to replace the dead 120MB and now have it up and running.
Well i'd claim that as a win .

    Why only a partial refund?

That's all I asked for. I assumed the HDD was faulty as the rest of the device seemed to work and I had priced a replacement HDD.

When I bought it, I had planned to do a HDD upgrade.

I just wish I'd asked for a bigger refund.

    Probably right.

The question now is, what feedback should I give the seller?

If you've ascertained that HDD was kaput when sold, it indicates one of two things:
    1. The seller didn't know it was busted
    2. He did and was trying to flog it off anyway.
Given that he agreed to give you a partial refund immediately, No. 2 seems unlikely. Why would you do a dodgy deal and then give some of the money back from it?
I'd give positive but I'm probably naive.

    The sellers description:

Very good condition; missing software CD, user's manual but working perfectly and battery is very good; USB cable included.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a faulty goods purchase.... but it was for me.

I needed a SCSI CD-ROM drive to get a Testbook working. I couldn't source one here but TheTree got one off US eBay via one of his colleagues in the USA. It arrived today and I installed it.

    No worky.

Tried it in my desktop PC. Yep, the drive is recognised but doesn't spin up when a CD is installed. Gaaahhh!

Can't really ship it back to the USA.

So I'm still on the look out for one.

I noticed this thread again when the thread count was at 666 .

I hurried on to save you but by the time I got into the thread, you had already posted that you have had more problems, so I was too late.

But I will have another look about down here for you for that SCSI CD ROM for you.

I went to buy a gas bottle holder yesterday but was told they'd all been recalled as they were faulty.

My wife reckoned they'd saved me having to take it back.
