Not to expensive then.
Permit fees for driving on Stockton Beach are to be reintroduced from May 1st.
$10 for 3 day permit
$30 for 1 year permit
I have heard:
If the fees don't cover NPWS costs, then they intend to raise the difference from fines!
If a club will have 20 or more participants, they will be required to submit an intended route prior to use and complete consent forms, 30 days prior to entry.
Vehicles must stay clear of any shell deposits or historical sites.
Not to expensive then.
Their costs?? Paying another drop kick to sit in an office and look at ways to restrict access and when he buggers up gets a huge bonus golden handshake. Taxes are already supposed to pay for Rangers and ifrastructure. Just another way to rip off the public and restrict access. Allright for those who can afford it, not for those who can not. I reckon tell em to go jump, public access to our country.
Remember they do not own it.

Not the point. This is why we pay taxes. Permits are an additional tax.
$30 may not be much to you or me but some people do struggle and can mean the difference between a day out or staying home. I have already paid for the privelege of park access in my taxes and I do pay high taxes, why should you pay again? Read the constitution regarding taxation.
Just another way of the government ripping us off, like tollways. I would much rather see that money go to my kids or something else useful.

Fines on the beach?? I dont think i have ever been checked for my permit in the past i guess they intend on starting to check,, as for the club thing of 20 plus,, i guess it would be hard for them to police that part of things especialy with groups like AULRO - we are just 20+ friends who happened to be on the beach at the same time![]()
G'day All, I don't want to sound like a wet blanket, but if your smart don't come to NSW with a set of dodgy plates, they have a gadget that ID's plates in less than .5 of a second, trapped lotsa idiots with unregistered cars etc, anyway cheers Dennis![]()
Actually I think they have about three of them - but I am sure there are more to come! Probably be a while before they appear on any beach though - pickings too good on the highways.
On that subject - following the introduction of the gadget a few months ago, they published that there are about 10% of drivers on the road unlicenced. In a separate release they also published about the same time that unlicenced drivers are involved in about 10% of accidents and deaths (very dangerous!). Anyone else spot the fact that these figures do not support unlicenced drivers as being any more dangerous than average?

We should do some research. A friend a while back consulted a constitutional lawyer about being charged to enter national parks, Uluru etc and was informed that legally they can not charge you to enter a park. It is regarded as a donation. I know a few years ago when we were at Uluru the tickets actually had thankyou for your donation written in small lettering on the back. May still have the ticket as the wife liked the design, will look when I get home.
DO NOT take this for gospel, it may and probablly is not right. Governments cahnge legislation all the time to shaft us.
It seems the real agenda of permit charges is to keep us out not help the parks.
Just look at the O/S tourists that just walk past collection boxes. We live here and pay taxes, why should we pay again. Lets charge tourists a reasonable fee that do not contribute to this countries infrastructure, not an obscene fee just a modest one like they do in the US.
Yes I am passionate about this issue as I want my kids to be able to go where they want to in this country, not be dictated to by government and minority groups that have no right to do this.
Off the soap box.
