    2004 D2 V8 Fuel economy

I spoke to a guy today who tels me he gets 530 - 550kms per 75lt out of his D2 V8 around town.

Is the D2 2004 V8 better on fuel than the earlier models ( 2000 - 2003 )? I thought they were the same motor and beleive most V8 D2 look at around 400kms per tank.

Driving no trailer I get over 500 from the tank no trailer around town but with trailer in tow with all the work gear around town roughly 430 to 460 when people say full tank do you fill up till the pump handle clicks or where you know 90 dollars registers as full theres a big difference it also depends on the type of fuel your using I only ever use BP Ultimate and have found to get more cleaner burning kays from this fuel the most i have evr gotten from a tank was 560 kays Coutry Drive Cheers Ken 2002 V8 Discovery Manual

No way! That means he is getting about 14l/100km around town. You would be lucky to get 14 on the highway.

I would get about 400km maybe a bit more around town from 75 litres which equates to about 490km from the 90litre tank.(18.5l/100km) I have not heard of anyone consistently getting better than that for city driving.

I usualy fill about 75-80L and get around 350-400 out of a tank

But that is usualy city driving with beach and bush thrown in... when my GF was driving it to work and back everyday with no offroading we would get 400-450 from a tank sometimes more,, best ever was about 630 driving to brisbane with a full load but no towing. Towing a car float with a 110 on it we got around 400-450 from highway driving towing it back from balina to newcastle.

bloody expensive but i love the sound of the V8

2004 is 9.35:1CR instead of 8.13:1 in 2002 , so he is using 95-98 octane.

This should be worth about 10% in economy, The car would run max advance and pull back timing via Knock sensors..
The 8.13 would never get to use the knock sensors.
