Lets hope channel Seven doesn't get the MotoGP broadcast rights or we might have the thing shortened to see some local under 8s footy game.

    good one.

Channel 7 promised in a news conference late last year when they won the right the the AFL after they got the V8's that the V8's wouldnt take a second place to the footy, my freakin **** they wouldnt.

I think the worst thing is that all those NZ'ers who went to the race got ripped of 10 or so laps cause 7 sees Aerial Ping Pong as a more important sport. I would be ****ed if i had paid for a ticket and not got to see the whole race. Would they ever cut a footy game 10mins short cause they V8's were on next, i dont think so.

The ridiculous part of all this discussion about broadcasting is the lack of decent usage of digital capabilities.

Any digital broadcaster can send more than one signal to a digital receiver, so an outside broadcast from a motor race could go all day on one digital transmission frequency and the footy (or anything else) could go on another at the same time, all under the guise of, in this instance, Network 7. All the viewer would need is a digital reciever...

...but I think government fiddling is preventing this from happening.
