Possible new 4 Legged Mate. Now With Pics :-)

    Hi All,

As many of you know, 3 weeks ago tonight I lost my best 4 legged mate Benz, and to be honest it has been tough . It hasn’t been the same without him for many reasons. One is that the bloody cat which would never venture out the back where he is, now does and likes to “meow” early in the morning outside our door . Even the missus who would get uppity at his barking and hitting the security door like a tonne of bricks when it came to the cat, misses the fact that he did that and kept the bugger out the back of the property. Being on acreage we have a driveway about 200 mtrs, so normally he would alert us to anyone coming up the driveway. Now I just cr@p my pants when someone knocks on the door at night time (normally a family member, thankfully) as there is no prior warning and you wouldn’t know thanks to “her” retriever ( nice, fluffy dog but that’s about it). Thankfully I am never in a compromising position……….so to speak . But overall its just his presence which is sorely missed. The kids and I make regular sojourns to his grave to lay flowers, tell him how much we miss him, and for Stevo to have a cold one in his memory.
So the upside is tomorrow we are going to go and have a look at a litter, where the mother is Benz’s half sister and the great aunt is my previous “girls” mother, so pretty much same bloodline. Nothing can replace my mate, but it will be great to have a new mate around, chewing, crapping, piddling, generally doing what all puppies are prone to do……………and I cant wait. So tomorrow a new chapter will start, cant get him for another 10 days after that, but tomorrow is choosing which boy we want and going from there. I will take some pics and post tomorrow as we all know…………it didn’t happen without pics. Then the battle to name him will commence, so far we have “Fang” from the book White Fang, “Conan” well I was a big Conan the Barbarian fan, hmmmm my partners suggestion was “Templeton” highly unlikely, today I came up with “Chisel” as I had just bought the new Chisels renditions by Aussie Bands, ( great cd by the way), we also have Bandit, Shadow ( from The Incredible Journey) and a couple of others. So far I am quite keen on “Fang”, my youngest (4) says cant we call him Benz as he misses him so much. I explained to him that Benz was one of a kind and that the new pup has to have its own identity and will become his own “one of a kind” Anyway hopefully will be posting pics tomorrow night of our new family addition

    Regards

    Stevo

Initially my thoughts were not to, well not at this stage, it was moreso that I let the breeder know about what happened and they told me about his 1/2 sister who had recently had a litter. It seemed like one of those "fate" situations. Sharlea was of the same mind till I showed her a picture of the litter, then she was gone .

G'day All, Waiting to see em mate cheers Dennis

Do you think your kids really need to be vet-checked before they get to see the dogs? ... I'm sure it will be fine. And they will get tattoos when they are ready and hopefully at least 20

We lost one of our dogs in January this year, we chose not to replace him cause we have have another 4. If he had been the only one or one of only 2 dogs we would have been down the pet shop within a week.

I love dogs and couldnt live without one around the house, their short life span compared to ours unfortunatly means have to experience the loss of a best mate a few times.

Good luck with it steve, go for it. Matt
