Toyota Now World's No: 1 Car Maker

Well this will upset us all. Was looking at some other sites and picked up the above. Not only is Toyota the richest car maker it's now No:1 last quarter beat GM for the first time. Also read Toyota could buy out Ford or GM with it's cash reserves.

Just goes to show how boring the world has be come if the masses are all buying Toyota.

I can proudly say they won't be getting any of my money.

it does show that the whole world needs a feeling of security,, and the one thing a toyota will do is get you home.

Agreed, you cant argue with it.
They do have an uncanny knack of taking things to a new level of boring, take the inside of the new camry, I reckon those are the vehicles people fall asleep in on long journeys

To be fair, Toyota make some good road going vehicles of excellent build quality, performance and reliability. I for one will be getting another Lexus when this one gets replaced, probably an LS430 as they are getting cheaper all the time! (I'm NOT paying 100K for ANY car! they are around 40K now, so I'll wait a little longer...)

BUT, their 4x4's lack character, off road capability, and more recently reliability and strength, and they are sooooo boring to drive.

Dont get too depressed, we all know that Toyota rely on 'smoke and mirrors' to maintain their status...their cars are getting crappier and durability is almost nil...it wont be long before the 'bread and butter' commercial purchasers will look for options, probably Nissans or another Jap car.
The new V8 landcruisers look very boxy...(funny how Landrover have built them this way since adam wore boardshorts.)
If you reckon a lexus is nice, drive a brand new rangie...****s on the tojo crap...in every department.
I have worked on the mines since the mid eighties, as a fitter and the durability of the cruiser is a thing of the past. Sure they are fast and comfortable, but they guzzle fuel, lack character and are actually poorly designed and over engineered and now they are starting to get very fragile..

Thats one reason I have always owned Landies..they are a robust design, simple and cheap to run (sort of..) but most important of all they are a car you can own for life.

The Toyota Motor Corporation will never see any of my hard earned.
