    Nicked off Exploroz this morning..

Some English backpackers on Fraser Island who it seems didn't air down. Someone should have told them.

I've just got back from Fraser - not even a wheelspin. Mind you, I was running the Army pressures, which equates to 15psi front and 20psi rear. Talked to a few people in hire cars who were trying to run 30psi . Don't the hire companies tell them what to do?

No, according to the Exploroz thread. Excuse is apparently they aren't insured if pressures are less than factory recommendations.

I've never heard of a claim being knocked back coz of pressures.. I wonder where we stand.

Brings back memories. It's good entertainment if the fishing is off.

The best spot was on the top of middle rock before they put boards down. I spent hours watching guys get bogged.

    Great fun .

All my Landrover manuals and placards give reduced pressures for "soft conditions offroad". So in the case of these anyway, should not be a problem.

I reckon the worry would be they would end up back on the mainland doing 100 up the bitumen on 20psi.

I think that is correct. From talking to the people up there the hire companies tell them specifically not to drop their tyre pressures, and that this all came about when a tourist group were returning from the Island and lost control of the vehicle on the tar with reduced pressures.

Probably would not get that far.

They would try to get to the Orchid beach shop and that would end it all .
