know that feeling.... experienced it a few weeks ago...
I've taken my recent purchase to Graeme Cooper's today to get all the niggly things I found so far fixed and, to get the car 'thoroughly checked over' to make sure there is nothing else that might go wrong in the near future.
I'm preparing myself for a bit of a shock: Either "Sam, you car is super-f*ckered and needs a million dollars of work." or "Sam, you've got a bargain!".
I know which it is most likely to be though. I just don't want to answer my phone today...![]()

Got a call off Ward earlier; nothing too serious - nothing I didn't know about already apart from some part of the steering mechanism being a bit ****ered which will explain the play in the steering.
Tomorrow they're going to work out why the 'set' button on the cruise control sounds the horn when he cruise control master switch is off and why nothing sounds the horn and why cruise control doesn't work at all even when the master switch is on. Should be interesting!![]()

It's the electrical connector behind the steering wheel. Also known as rotary coupling. It connects the horn & cruise control switches with the car.
Old cars made do with a slip ring but there's a few more circuits that are in the steering wheels nowadays.
The electrical items on the steering wheel (horn, cruise & airbag circuits) pass through it.
They can develop short/open circuits at times & they're not a cheap part.
