Probably no help but I have a Kenda on the rear of my bike and it is surprisingly good. They were known for crap tyres once but they are almost as good as anything now. The grip in the wet is impressive.

    mountain bike tyres

This wont help either. My cross country racer (bicycle) GT has chunky Kenda's front and rear. Deflated them a few times (rocks, going up hill) no punctures, and i have box shaped rims!
