    Not happy (Jan...)!

Well, after my *fingers crossed* post I finally picked up my Disco this evening and I was initially quite happy to have it back.

My happiness was tempered when I go the repair bill for lots of bits and bobs but, these things never make people happy. There were a lot of things there and everyhting was itemised right down to two cable ties at 54c each

However, more seriously I am a bit miffed that of the list of things I asked to get sorted - a list which I left on the phone and written down on a piece of A4 in the car - three of more important items have not been looked at.

Furthermore, there are still bits of the inside bodywork were obviously taken off to do whatever which haven't been replaced, there are loose wires and my speaker is rolling around in the back. Also, there are plenty of loose rags and rubbish in the back; none of which was there when I took the car in.

I had higher expectation from the place I took my car to based on the recommendations on this forum. I'll not say where I took it to yet - I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Maybe he/they were having a bad day (or three).

I guess we all have bad days, take it back, tell them the problems, and then see how they react, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Well I'll have to give them a call tomorrow and see what they say.

The problem I now have is that if they only half finshed one job and said it was all done, are the other things I asked to be done (which I can't easily see) get finshed properly?

based on my experiences with blacklock fords

    Nope they aint..

IT wasnt till I demanded they put it up on the hoist and showed them the yellow telltail paint on the filler plugs and the UV markings Id put on the rubber that they decided perhaps they should actually do what the hell they say they are doing and charging me for..

    And

NO I have still not gotten over being charged to change the 8 spark plugs in big red.

nope, but when I asked for the old spark plugs to keep as spares they gave me 6 of one and 2 of the other...

I was tempted to ask is that because the rear 2 cylinders get hotter and need a cooler plug, I settled for asking them to show me where to install them (I was thinking in the service reps umm head, from a 12 gauge.)

that is worrying, because how many people do they try that on and get away with it. Many people would simply pay it and not bother looking at the itemised list because they wouldnt know a cable tie from a spark plug let alone the fact that even if diesels had spark plugs it would only need 5.

Take it back, give them the chance to fix it then deal with it if they dont do it properly. I would be checking for evidence of work being done aswell.

Yes take it back. And Sam, keep your cool and resist the urge to swear, shout or otherwise insult them. You will do much better to simply calmly explain that the work (and the cleanup) is not satisfactory.

I just went back and looked at where you had taken the car, personally i'm not surprised, just getting parts from them is an unpleasent experience.

It would appear their standards have dropped if this is the case. Normally they are pretty good.

Everyone, absolutely everyone makes mistakes. But the proprietor of the workshop in question will always come to the party in my experience.
