jeeze, just grab the sealastic gun and pressurise the compartments. Its what the army does when the want something seriously water tighted..
small tank on any kind of 12v compressor and a 3psi regulator plumbed into your sealed enclousures...
depending on how deep you want to ford 3psi should see you right to about 3m underwater.

as for the water proofing idea.
while my ecu compartment is quite new and dosnt leak, not that ive filled it with water, there is not an ounce of dust in there so it must be fairly tight. i was goint to remove as much as possible and seal the compartment up with more of my favorite hippo liner stuff, re fit all the crap and seal the lid and have it hooked up to a small pressure pump, so in the event its going under or i have to turn the engine off i could just flick a switch and pressurize the box?? either that or ive got a bilge pump in the shed that pumps 40l/min or something like that?
or install a 10'' lift and stay above the water;)

Seriously though, if the ECU was still dry inside, I wonder also if it was dicky mud filled connections in the looms/fuses/connectors.
Gees guess I was lucky. When I taught mine to swim the ECU was still 1 cm above the water in the compartment. Took 2 days to stop the hazards. as the door remote unit was full of gunk.
There must be something about me and refrigerators...perhaps it's the beer that's often in them...anyways. Heh, last ECU I dried, totally un-LR related...I opened up and sat on top of the work fridge fins for a few days. Gentle heat and nice dry air.
I'm asuming, if you're replacing relays that you've check to make sure the FP relay is getting all it's switching triggers and supplies? Or that the FP is getting a good supply and ground. Anyways, I'll shut up before I make a bigger ass uh myself and just wish Tusker best of luck for getting well soon. Should I send a card?
I have one word for waterproofing small electronic components and goodies cheaply and simply. Well two actually, Tupperware and Silastic. That is provided your missus doesn't mind you masacring(sp?) her best containers. Those things hold soup when upsidedown, I cant see why it wouldn't work in reverse.

i used A TUPERWARE container stole it out of my missus cupboard ,,,she found it one camping trip at LCMP when i needed her to go in my toolbox to get the spare fuses out she came back with a large spanner and hammer lucky i can run faster then her
Well we weren't able to lacate anytrhing to tell us which one the fuel pump relay was..
But no fuel to the engine.
Carl neatly cut an access hole in the floor. Next job was removing about 3" of dried mud on top of the pump.
No power to it, so prima facie the pump is ok. Back under the seat, & we finaaly located one dodgy connection underneath one relay..
Bingo, pump back in action. Purge air according to the manual & all is fine.
So it seems that one wire was loose, the mud just made things worse, & trying to pull out slippery relays just pulled this wire right out.
And for the record, the fuel pump relay is the far left of the bank of five, as you peer in from the drivers door.
So it all ended up quite well. I know more about what's under there, the access hole is made, and the fuel pump is ok. That dodgy connection is now repaired.
Now to clean out the mud from everywhere else..
With thanks to Carl Hendrikson too btw. Without him & his workshop, it could have taken a lot longer to fix.
