If you want to talk about commute times doubling, try Brisbane. Traffic is now terrible due to bloody poor (read total lack of) planning by the local and state Govt and all the bloody southerners moving up here.

23k from southside to Albion (inner city N'side) can take 35 min in morn provided I leave by 6.45 to anywhere between 45 and 75 minutes in the arvo after 5 PM. And don't start me on the inner city bypass.

On and off for the last 12 years from McCrae to Greensborough, lucky i don't go to the office much, so i average between 50mins and 2hrs each way. Can't wait to move away

1 hour each way unless it's around a long weekend. 160km round trip each day. If I am going home on the Friday arvo / evening and it's a long weekend then can take upto an hour and a half.

"Retired"- with a home based business selling machine shop, hobby engineers, and restoration requisites, rare, obsolete, hard to find and "no longer available taps and dies. Eat your hearts out, peak hour commuters. I now do what I want to, when I want to.

Thanks to the joy of Brisbane City Council bus services I spend between 1 and 1.5 hours a day commuting. Sometimes it's longer .. but I've had a couple of days where I've spent 2 hours commuting.

How far do I live from work? According to my gps 7.72 km.

Quite literally I could live on the gold coast and not spend too much longer commuting...

I spend a whole minute each way From memory its 1200m to work.NO I DONT WALK,the esky is too heavy and I dont like getting wet,walking in the heat etc,the walk is quite pleasant,done it heaps of times after getting smashed at the depot after work.A practice that now has been banned!!!!
Dont like the effect of the short trip on the vehicle.

Mine's a short trip to the back door if I'm working outside, but I've never walked to my front gate.
