In most States the maximum speed limit on freeways and major highways is 100 kph (approx 55 mph) and local urban limits range from 50 – 80 kph (approx 30 - 45 mph). In the Northern Territory there are highways that are free of any limits. A Disco2 will do that. I've done 160km/h fully loaded with 2" lift, stock Michelins, bull bar and all of that rubbish. That was when my TD5 was standard and it's an auto. Empty, lowered and smooth in the body it would have gone faster. I'd love to try it now with the chip and intercooler, but sadly the laws now prohibit.
Anyway, its all cool in NSW to run slower tyres as already posted. Load is the key.
There's a loophole in the WA law that basically says it's Ok to run lower speed rated tyres as long as the load rating is correct and the vehicle is driven within the capabilty of the tyres.
I looked this up recently when I noticed my tyre placard stated T rating, my Pirelli Scorpion AT's are rated Q. I found a website, I think it was Tyrepower that stated in Australia 4WD vehicles, must have nothing lower than an N Rating.
So I have a Q rating which is higher than the speed limit, and I don't exceed the speed limit:angel: so therefore no problem:cool:

I had a range of them on my pajero, blowouts, tread separation, but the names have all been covered before.
