Towing a trailer (100-150kgs load) at 100-110ks (out back Vic) with my wife + 3 boys l/h rear lets go and destroys the 1/4 panel, $1300 damage, and for a short period we, inc me, were all passengers.
Now, these (rear) tyres were on the front lucky no one was coming the other way as I "used" all the road to stop. Anyway on further looking found r/h rear starting to "crack". There was only 1/4 of the tread left on the tyre and rust mark about the size of a small plate on steelbelt when we collected what was left over about 200m of road.
I approached said dealer on my return and they sent out their rep, long story short all tyres were replaced, 3x them (in good faith) 2x by me and they paid my excess on ins for repairs, 3mths after the fact due to a few nice and not so nice ph calls/emails.
Now this is were it gets worrying for all concerned with 4wd tyres ladies and gents.
My tyres did not have M & S stamped on them, they say these tyres were not made for 4wds, they checked and found the previous owner had brought them from a dealer in Sydney who was infact an authrorised seller of this brand, so they had no leg to stand on. They replaced these with L/T (light truck tyres) of this brand and I purchased some new heavy duty jocks and still have finger marks on the dash from the boss, (wife) didn't know she could put so many swear words into a sentance
My ins (WQBE) informed me that this could have been a "funny" one, there rep came out and took photo's of the car and tyre/s and we had a talk of the situation.
How many of you out there fall into this situation?????????????
