Thread: radiator filter

There is a radiator filter that goes into the top hose at the Hose to Rad join, I have had one on my 2a for years, brilliant, it catches all the loose stuff from the block and calcium flacks, I bought mine from REPCO but cant remember the brand. they are cheese-cloth material similar to car polishing cloth.

Depends on what you are putting it on, and how dirty you think the Rad is, if you think it is dirty then check it after a month, or if the temp goes up at all, as that would indicate that the sock is full, hang on, I think it is known as the ??? Radiator Sock!! a little tip that I was taught a few years ago was to paint "Permatex No3" non-hardening gasket cement around the rad neck and in the hoses and other fittings as that stops the corrosion on the alloy parts.

You will need to clean it about 1000km after install as it will fill up quickly. After that, just clean every service.

I am a cheap bastard, and rather than buy one, I made my own - from an old work sock!!! That was about 6 months ago and it is working fine!

i have a tefba excess to my needs you can have for $50. it is unused.

cheapa option stockings work real well thick gauged ones
