Nigel I have just come back 2 weeks ago and the fishing was poor.
I suggest actually, I insist you go to gregorys or south gregorys up on the peron peninsula (at the very tip). Camping is allowed by u must pay to camp, free bbq and designated camping areas.
if I was to go back ,this is where I would stay as it is FANTASTIC place and the fishing is better here than anywhere I found.
Also before u get to denham from goulet Bluff there are tracks all along the coast that follow the coast north and u are able to camp as well in spots.
On Eagle Bluff rd before the end is a rd to the right that takes u down to a lagoon and u can swim with the water going in (Tidal) and out it is very nice.
Little Lagoon nth of denham also has a lookout and track that follows the inlet also good u can drive around the lagoon but the entry to the lookout is the second turn off on yor left, there is a track along the walking path.
You will find all the water around denham app 2 foot deep for almost a kilometer or more..ie very shallow and not good for fishing.
You must also on your way up the peron stop and visit the homestead, spend some time looking around very good. There is also the hot tub to sit in thats free! Some history at that place.
Peron will cost you 10 bucks per car per day.
If u visit Monkey Mia that will cost you $12 per car /family.
If you get a thickshake at the cafe it will cost you $6.20 for a not so big glass...ie ripoff!
Nanga station milkshake double the size and only $3.50 good value! U must have a look at Nanga..not much there but nice place.
At Denham the first cafe Near the bakery has new owners and they are trying new menu...Highly reccomended and reasonable price.
The Other cafe was closed on sat nite?
We had difficulty in getting takeaways at 6.30 pm anywhere in the town!
Good luck and I hoped I have pointed u in some good directions.
