GPS directions take driver off-road
A Melbourne woman was lost in Victoria's south-west for more than two hours last night, after following her car's GPS instructions down a rough dirt road.
Sergeant Wayne Oakes says the woman in her 20s was driving from Melbourne to the coastal town of Peterborough, but got lost in bushland just south of Cobden.
She called 000 at 7:30pm AEST to say she was lost and her car was stuck on the road.
Sergeant Oakes says it took police two-and-a-half hours to find her.
"She followed it and it wasn't quite as accurate as she'd hoped and she ended up well and truly off the beaten track onto ... literally a four-wheel drive only road," he said.
"I think she'd still be better off sticking to a road map and I think she's likely to learn how to use it a little bit better."

We had a customer call last week saying that her Sat Nav wasn't working properly & she was lost.
She was in a hurry to get somewhere & wanted us to give her directions over the phone on how to get there.

Satnav system = $1000
Paper maps = $50
More money than brains.
Some idiot drives around here with the thing stuck to his windcreen, directly below the mirror, no doubt obscuring his forward vision.
As if you need one of those in this neck of the woods...
Are they standard or optional for Hilux drivers?
A rental car I had in the USA had one fitted, was very dodgy and potentially dangerous if I did what it said.
GQ
Classic scene in Top Gear when Jeremy is racing the others to Norway in a McLaren Merc, half way across a very long bridge the sat nav is telling him to turn left. You can imagine what he is telling it to do!![]()
This is a beauty I had emailed to me...
If you can't see ''maps" above the search bar click "more", you'll find it.
Take 60 seconds to do this, I guarantee you will show someone else, it's too funny not to. 1. go to www.google.com
2. click on "maps," above the search bar...
3. click on "get directions"
4. type "New York" in the first box (the "from" box)
5. type "Paris" in the second box (the "to" box)
6. click on "get directions"
6. scroll down to step #24
Most amusing.
84' 120" ute - 3.9 isuzu.
What's even more amusing is that the system deals with the "swim" leg as a road, meaning anywhere that connects to it by road will use it to cross the Atlantic. Try travelling anywhere in the UK to anywhere in the USA.

Do they make SatNav's for female drivers?
You know the ones that they can turn the screen to match the way they are going like they do with maps![]()
